The new .UK domain is shorter and sharper and puts the emphasis firmly on your website name – exactly where it should be. It is the newest product in the .UK Domain Family and is at the forefront of the online revolution, offering an exciting new territory for online pioneers to make their own.
For the majority of you, the new .UK equivalent domain would have been automatically reserved for you since launch on 10 June 2014. So, if you have a unique .co.uk, .org.uk, .me.uk, .net.uk, .plc.uk or .ltd.uk domain name, the shorter and sharper .uk version has been reserved especially for you at no extra charge up until 10 June 2019, as long as your initial domain remains registered.
For some of you, there will have been more than one domain that existed before the cut off date which shared the same website name as yours but had different domain name endings (i.e. www.example.co.uk and www.example.org.uk). Therefore you can check whether you have the rights to the new .uk domain by using Nominet's Rights lookup tool.
In order for you to be eligible to get the .UK extension, you must validate and provide the exact information provided for your .co.uk domain. Nominet is the domain registry who deals with the .UK Domain Family and it is always helpful to contact them if you experience any problems. Nominet cannot discuss any registrant contact information with Maxer Host and therefore require you to contact them directly in most cases.
Nominet have also introduced data validation for all their domain extensions. This may mean you could be contacted regarding the details provided for the registrant (contact information) at some point. Nominet will validate this information against public records and will also require you to validate it. Please ensure you answer any correspondence from Nominet directly, as we cannot access those records ourselves. If you are unsure if the email is meant for you, please copy it to our support team who will verify it and give you the steps to follow to confirm with Nominet.
